Days like these, when that crusty old-man known as Winter just won’t release his grim, grey chokehold on the calendar, a guy needs to be able to fight through the gloom and chill. For me, the surest and most-invigorating gloom-buster is to start my day off with Eau d’Italie’s scented soap and then a blast of their Jardin du Poete.

I first discovered Eau d’Italie at the impossibly chic Sirenuse Hotel, on Italy’s legendarily gorgeous Amalfi Coast, home of crystal-blue skies and lemony-sun. And right now, when we are in the trough of March, using their soap in the morning is, well, transporting. It makes me feel I’m there, smelling the tuberose and the orange blossoms.

But don’t just use it in these last days of winter - use it all year. After all, from espresso to frais des bois, the Italians know how to start their mornings the civilized way. Eau d’Italie is the perfect accent to your morning.
