5 Quick Fixes for Your Flat "Headphone Hair"

Source:

It's 2015, and men are now fully allowed to care about their hair, which includes getting the best haircuts and using the right products. But with all that extra effort can come extra anxiety about screwing up all your hard work, whether it be via hat, sweat, or even just inclement weather. But an unexpected ruiner of dope up 'dos are those expensive, crystal clear sounding headphones you spent half your paycheck on, and which you wear all day at work (even if you only sport them to keep people from talking to you). Here's some tips to make sure you avoid dreaded, partially flattened "headphone hair."

Keep Product at Your DeskThe best defense is a good offense. Keep some quality product at your desk—this way, if headphone hair can't be avoided, at least it can be mended simply by hitting the bathroom before your big meeting. All you have to do is double up on the goop you use at home.

Grow Your Hair LongLong hair is inherently more free-flowing, which means it's less susceptible to unwanted flattening, especially if you're the kind of the guy who isn't afraid of embracing a little man bun action. (As long as you do it the right way.)

Buzz It All OffOn the other side of that spectrum, is the buzz. After all, with almost no hair, there's nothing to screw up!

Invest in a Commuter HatSince you're basically going to be wearing the headphones most of the day at work, you really only need your hair to look great when going to and from work. But tossing on a baseball cap with your nine-to-five outfit can look off-putting. Instead, invest in a fedora of the Don Draper variety, meaning one in grey, black, or brown, that you can wear with any suit this fall. We recommend going to a professional, like the ones at JJ Hat Center, to make sure it fits your head (which will also keep it from appearing costumey).

Earbuds, Your New Best FriendOf course, the simplest way to avoid all of this extra thought is to buy headphones that don't sit on top of your head. Brands like Beats, Master & Dynamic, or even Bose all make in-hear headphones that are good enough to make it feel like The Weeknd is singing right to you. (Or, you know, Taylor Swift if that's more your thing.) Best of all, you don't have to leave these at your desk as they all work just as well when you hit the gym.
