Here’s a little sweet vindication for Mark Sanchez, who dealt with a firestorm of hate after sporting a green headband to a press conference a few months back: the male headband appears to be catching on. It’s not just for the gym, either: "This trend is transitioning from star athletes to major names in the Hollywood scene," says hairstylist Julien Farel. "Aside from soccer and football stars like David Beckham and Mark Sanchez, we are seeing them on actors and musicians like Zac Efron, Nick Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal and Harry Styles." (Designer Nicholas K even had his models wear thick bands around their hair at his Spring 2014 show.)
Hate it? Totally fine. You need a really strong head of hair and some serious swag to pull it off anyway. But if you’re feeling ballsy and want to give it a go, here’s a tip:
"Put it on right after you get out of the shower while your hair is wet to help train the hair to go the way you want it to, and once your hair is damp, apply some flexible gel or gloss to tame flyaways," says Farel.
