Justin Theroux’s come a long way from the Jesus locks he had to sport for Wanderlust. We tapped our October cover star’s on-set groomer, Thom Priano of Garren New York Salon, for instructions on recreating his hairstyle.
The Inspiration: "When I work with celebrities I talk to them about the way they feel about themselves and how they want to look," says Priano. "With someone like Justin, you want to keep him looking like who he is. We ended up with bedheadish biker-type hair."
The Cut: Hair should be cut to about a quarter inch at the nape of the neck and gradually fade into an inch and a half at the crown and in the front. "Once you hit those lengths make sure the barber nips into the hair with scissors to make it piecey and chunky," says Priano.
The Style: Start with damp, towel-dried hair and rub a nickel-sized amount of paste between your hands. (Priano used a paste from Rogue & Co on Theroux, which is only available in select salons, but says Magic Move Soft paste works just as well.) Starting at the back of your crown, rake fingers towards your face in a vibrating motion, then lift hair up in the front with the same claw-like hand. Finally, use your fingertips to pick out pieces throughout to get the messy bedhead effect.
