Brad Pitt, Age 51.
Brad Pitt’s latest haircut might be for his upcoming role in Fury, but the fifty-year-old’s closely shaved pompadour is a slick style we’d be down to see more of in the streets. "The most important thing is to find someone who is comfortable creating that kind of extreme cut, it takes great shape and balance to work," says Vaughn Acord, celebrity groomer and the creator of V76 by Vaughn. "You want to trust the guy putting a blade to your head." Here’s how to get the right haircut when you’re in the chair, plus details on styling it at home.
The Cut: Leave at least two inches of hair at the crown so that it can be brushed back into place. The sides should be shaved with a blade (not a buzzer or trimmer) while the back should have a much softer fade. No need to get OCD about keeping up the shave on the sides, though—Pitt’s cut above, at the Oscars, is a few weeks grown out and still looks great.
The Style: You have two options here. For hair that has super strong hold and feels hard to the touch (good for those with unruly locks), apply a gel balm (try V76 by Vaughn Control Balm) to wet hair and brush it back with a comb before allowing hair to air-dry and set.For more pliable, touchable hair (that can be restyled later), apply a modified wax (try V76 by Vaughn V Rated Natural Wax) to half-dried locks, then allow to set.
The Warning: "I can see this look being very short-lived, we’ll probably see it for a few more years at most," says Vaughn. In our opinion, all the more reason to go for it.
