The line between being a mess and having that messy hair look is thing, very thin. In fact, you could call it a hairline. And as natural as some guys may look with "messy" hair, it actually takes a little (not too much) effort to nail it. If you want to make like Zylka (who also proves blonde beards can happen), there are a few things you can do.

First, go way easy on any product up top. A slight amount of grooming creme worked into damp hair with your hands will suffice. Once it's dry, drop the comb and run your hands through it a few times to give it a general shape. If you feel like it looks a little too styled, you can tease it out to let it loose again. A few off-center strands will help you here. (Remember, the goal is to have it look like you don't care.) When it comes to your beard, just let it grow. It's pretty clear that Zylka's got an untamed face mane going on, and that works as long as you don't let it get too long (when you look like a wild mountain man). Once you take a trimmer to those whiskers, they lose all sense of spontaneity and you're suddenly more uniform. Finally, consider what you're wearing. If Zylka showed up in a tux, this would all feel a little off. Keeping it casual below the neck lets you get away with a little more tough scruff—one more reason to love not-so-fancy dress codes.
