GQ: So what are we thinking for the hair here, Laurent?

Laurent Philippon: Well, it’s not a generic look, really. It’s respecting all the men’s personality. On the ones that have straighter hair, we’re using a new surf infusion (coming soon). It’s a mix of surf spray with a little bit of oil. You shake it up, and it gives that natural kind of textured look, as if you washed your hair three days ago. The whole thing is sporty and urban.

And the guys with curly hair?

On those guys we’re putting Hairdresser’s Invisible Primer, which is basically like a liquid conditioner. For curly hair it’s fantastic because it just gives the perfect finish to it.

And do you throw that in dry hair, damp hair, or what?

We put into dry hair and then you just diffuse it.

When you work with Lacoste, do you get a look at the collection and then figure it out from there? How does it work?

It’s the kind of house that doesn’t follow trends or anything. We’re not going to do a specific direction every season, it’s always more about the mood of the house—a sporty, urban, cool, young, modern kid.

Are there any other products you guys are using for the models?

On some of the guys we used a little bit of Semisumo, it’s a light hair wax. It’s really good for men, it tames the hair down and brings a natural shine to it. It makes it look like "dream" hair with good direction without making it look stuffy or oily.

Do you have any haircare tips for guys now that the weather is pretty harsh outside?

Well, have a little bit of primer and you can wet your hair when you get in, and it’ll get the life back in your hair.
