union-made-california-bay-laurel-soap-490.jpg
What: Juniper Ridge California Bay Laurel soap
Where: Unionmade, 493 Sanchez Street, San Francisco; unionmadegoods.com
How Much: $6
The Details: Last week while in San Francisco, I made a pit stop at one of the best independent stores in America, Unionmade. Along with geniously conceived jeans, shirts, and boots from staple US brands like Filson and Billy Reid, I also came across these perfectly potent and lather-rich bar soaps from Juniper Ridge. They come in a whole host of intoxicating woodsy scents, but my favorites were the California Bay Laurel and Siskiyou Cedar, the former of which I bought and have been using the past few days. It’s crafted out in the mountains and you can tell. It has a bit of a spicy edge and, like advertised, has the aroma of freshly smashed leaves. One way to make the dreaded descent from your bed a little less daunting.
