True Detective season two hasn't been the critical or cultural success that season one was, but Irishman Colin Farrell has been the undisputed MVP of the cop drama. Through drug use, brass knuckles, and a killer mustache, his portrayal of Ray Velcoro should garner Farrell some buzz come awards season. But as of last night's episode, he's down a 'stache, the drugs, and a whole bunch of tweed. After a totally batshit shootout, Velcoro left the police force, started working security for Vince Vaughn, and ramped up his efforts to get custody of his potentially bastard child son, hence the lack of "getting wet" or, apparently, the need for a face carpet. He also got himself a new, non-country music superstar suit, and the updates go to show you how a couple simple tweaks to your look can make you appear ten years younger. That said, we appreciate that Velcoro hasn't completely lost touch with his rugged side, and has remained committed to the bolo tie. Never mess with a man in a bolo tie.
