Your FeetIf you're wearing anything open-toe, you're inevitably going expose part of your feet to the sun. If you’re barefoot on the beach, you’ll be getting a full blast of UV rays. (Danger!) Cramming those feet into shoes next week will hurt like hell if you don’t take the proper precautions. Get them piggies protected.
Behind the KneeEverybody gets their legs when applying sunscreen, but a lot of people miss that crucial zone just behind the knee. If that gets roasted, you can look forward to great discomfort any time you move your leg. It’s unpleasant, to say the least.
Your EarsThrowing some SPF on your face is a no-brainer, but there’s more above your neck than that handsome mug. You’ve got to pay attention to your ears. If they get crisped, you’ll not only have two bright red things hanging off your face, but you’ll never be able to find the cool side of the pillow. A nightmare.
Below the WaistFor those of you going poolside or heading to the shore, we implore you to take a little care below the waist. As the day wears on, the waistband of your bathing suit will move quite a bit. It may go south of where you first put it, exposing an unprotected area. If you don’t take care, you’ll be left with some weird red belt between your waist and the rest of you. Not a good look.
The ThighsYou might think that wearing a bathing suit or shorts will keep your thighs completely protected, but you’re mistaken. Splashing in the ocean, reclining on a chair, or running around will expose the very bottom of your thighs to the sun. And that skin rarely sees the natural light of day, so it’s extra-sensitive. Take care.
Editor’s Note: If you’re going to a nude beach, you better bathe in a bath of Coppertone.
