NUMBER:Lab continues to explore the fusion of sports and technology into men’s everyday wardrobes and Fall 2013 sees creative director Luis Fernandez turning to the sport of rugby for inspiration. Of course, in Fernandez’s hands that hardly means a collection of popped collars; instead, references to striped uniforms play out in color blocked compositions on knits and shorts while looks are kept race car slick thanks to tonally arranged rigs. But these pieces aren’t just sleek city duds, they also perform. Sweats and thermals are engineered to be water-repellent, super lightweight synthetic jackets becomes insulation layers and at the base level, jersey tees are crafted out of wicking fabrics. The focused lineup holds true to Fernandez’s outlook that "the lines between sports, work, and play are blurring in our modern world, and our guy wants his look to reflect that."
